Recently a SMS virus is circulating around the smartphone community. Smartphones running on Android are affected by this virus when clicked.
Users will received a SMS with the message “Is this your photo?” and an attached link. When the link is clicked on, it will install an Android malware app called Photoviewer.
The Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team (SingCERT) at the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore has issued warnings to users about the SMS messages spreading the virus.
Upon receiving the SMS, users should delete the SMS immediately and not to click on suspicious links.
Users can uninstall the app “Photoviewer” and the APK files from infected phones. The APK files can be found in the “Downloads” folder.
