1. Ghost Dog
- White Sheet
- Sewing Kit
- Marker pen
- Cloth elastic band
Place the white sheet over your dog and mark out the dog's eyes, ears, nose and mouth with the marker pen.
Mark the area around your dog's feet if the sheet is too big.
Cut out the holes for the dog's eyes, ears, nose and mouth and cut the edge of the sheet so it will not get dragged by your dog.
The sheet should be above the dog's feet.
Attach the elastic band around the neck area to hold the sheet in place.
Note: Make sure the band is not too tight for your dog!
- Black hoodie
- white fabric paint or white felt fabric that has been cut into bone shapes and glued (with non-toxic fabric glue) or sewn into place.
- a pair of black bike shorts or cut-off leggings (For larger dogs)
For smaller dog, a black hoodie would be enough.
Either paint the black hoodie with white fabric paint for the "bone" design or you can sew/glue white fabric that has been cut onto the hoodie.
Measure the hoodie with your dog and cut holes for its ear.
Wrap the bottom corners of the hoodie around your dogs back leg and then make a few stitches to form the leg hole.
Leave the bottom open for the dog to be able to do her "business."
If you have a larger dog, pair the hooded jacket with a pair of black bike shorts (or cut-off leggings) that have leg bones painted or felted on them, making sure to cut out a large piece of the shorts' crotch area to make room for the dog to have freedom in the lower body.
2. Skeleton Dog
3. The Bat-Dog
- 1/2 yard of black fleece
- 16-gauge wire
- iron-on adhesive
- black Velcro
- Sewing Kit / Sewing machine
Draw a 4" by 4" square on the paper side of iron-on adhesive then draw the wing shape approximately 11" by 7" wide.
Cut it out and trace and cut the second wing.
Iron the cut out adhesive onto the fleece, paper side up. (be careful on not to place hot iron directly onto the fleece).
After ironing, cut along the wings shape on the fleece and remove the paper adhesive.
Cut a few short pieces of the wire for the bones of the wings.
With the wire in place, cover the wings with another piece of fleece.
Cover the fleece with an ironing cloth or a thin cotton and iron over the wings until the 2 pieces of fleece are stick to each other.
Cut the shape of the wing on the fleece using the first wing as a guide.
Sew all the way around the edge of the wings.
Then sew along the edges of the wire.
To make the harness, measure your dog around the chest, half way down the back, and also around the waist.
Cut the fleece into a modified H shape with the arms of the H matching your dog’s chest and waist measurements plus 2” (the arms should be 2-1/2” wide).
The center of the H should be about 8” wide and the length of half your dog’s back. For example, on a medium dog, this harness has straps that measure 23” end to end and a center panel measuring 8” wide by 9” long.
Attach the wings to the harness by sewing a few lines along the square section of the wings.
Apply Velcro tape to the straps of the harness. Place the soft side of the tape on the underside of the right straps and the hard side of the Velcro tape on the topside of the left straps.
Now bend the wings into the desired shape and adorn your pooch in this spooktacular creation. Your pup is ready for Halloween night.
